Whangarei Town Basin
An 8-minute drive and you are in the heart of downtown Whangarei where the peaceful town basin provides a lovely place for a coffee next to the marina. Tourist shops and art galleries have some beautiful crafts on sale, while the Hatea Loop walkway offers a scenic 4km stroll for the more energetic vistiors.
Whangarei Falls
Whangarei Falls is located in Whangarei Scenic Reserve. The classic curtain waterfall is part of the Hatea River and one of the most popular swimming spots in the area. Easy access and a well-maintained Scenic Reserve make this waterfall one of New Zealand's must-see waterfalls.
Whangarei Quarry Gardens
Whangarei Quarry Gardens is a subtropical oasis created by volunteers in the remnants of a former quarry. The Gardens are open to the public and feature subtropical gardens, native forest walks, waterfalls, streams, quarry ruins, tunnels, a scented camellia collection, a plethora of NZ native and exotic plant species and so much more.
Whangarei Heads & Tutukaka Coastline

Whangarei Golf Club
The Whangarei Golf Club is situated only a 7-minute drive away. Some of the course is set in native bush and can be a test for the serious golfer and still be fun for the social player. The club welcomes visiting golfers keen to play a round.
Hundertwasser Art Centre

Hātea River Walkway
Follow the path of the beautiful Hātea River from the Town Basin to the impressive Whangarei Falls via Mair Park. The park was donated to the people of Whangarei in 1914 by Robert Mair, a local native plant enthusiast, and has been a popular picnic place for many years.
